Position Overview:

 This position is responsible for market research, business intelligence and business analytics for the commercial organization. This position requires oversight regarding the design, execution and/or management of market research vendors for primary and secondary research projects across multiple therapeutic areas in the US and international markets. The associate director will work with the commercial team and other members of the cross-functional team to drive the use of market-based insights and rigorous analysis to identify opportunities, frame and validate strategic options, deliver insight and recommendations and build cumulative knowledge of the organization.

 Responsibilities:

    • Supports and advises commercial leadership on business analytics and market research. Leads the design, plan, execution and delivery of primary and secondary research projects across different therapeutic areas.
    • Leads and or directly performs global ad-hoc business analysis across multiple therapeutic areas including Hematology/Oncology, Cardiovascular, Musculoskeletal/Pain and inflammation. Types of analysis include situation assessment, product assessment and patient journey/treatment flow.
    • Collaborates effectively with Product Directors, Pricing and Reimbursement and Therapeutic Area leadership to understand the informational and analytical needs for the brands and develop an analytical market research plan that includes secondary data analyses and the execution of primary market research projects.
    • Leads the customer insights generation process, performs patient journey/flow modeling segmentation, perceptual mapping, and conjoint analyses to inform the development of commercial strategy
    • Displays knowledge on a broad range of analytical and business insight generation techniques to apply appropriate and innovative methodologies to answer key business questions
    • Leads the development of revenue forecasts to inform lifecycle opportunities across all portfolios/programs. Build and manage all aspects of revenue forecast, including assumptions derived from primary market research and secondary data (i.e. pricing, uptake analogs) and scenario analysis
    • Lead pre-launch campaign strategy research, including positioning, value proposition and messaging
    • Embraces and leverages non-traditional, creative market research techniques to generate meaningful insights that can be translated to competitive advantage 
    • Responsible for the overall design and implementation of the analytical plan and the development of forecasting modeling for one or more products

 

Experience:

    • 5 – 7+ years market research with a minimum of 3+ years in the pharma/biotech industry
    • Experience with qualitative and quantitative research techniques required advanced analytical methodologies such as choice modeling and segmentation
    • Experience with sophisticated patient journey and treatment flow modeling
    • Global market research experience
    • Experience in specialty, orphan and/or hospital markets
    • Experience with secondary data sources

Education:

    • A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in a related field required

Specific Skills:

    • Proven experience and sophisticated understanding of the patient journey/treatment flow and the customer insight generation process
    • Proven experience and expertise integrating, synthesizing and translating disparate sources of primary and secondary data into strategic, actionable business insights
    • In depth strategic thinking and creative problem solving skills
    • Proven knowledge of the clinical development process and life-cycle from early stage through product launch
    • Demonstrates a commitment to high quality research and innovative research techniques, cost efficiency and project management
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
